Adventures in the Frog Pond...

Hello again,

So today I discovered for the umpteen billionth time that when you mindlessly crochet for too long at any given time you are liable to completely screw up the pattern no matter how simple the stitch. Right now I'm crocheting a blanket entirely in the snap dragon stitch and lately it seems that I need to frog back about 3 rows every day because I notice an error a little ways back. This is what it ends up looking like....

The rest of it looks good though!! See...

Spinning's Not Just for Yarn

Hello to you all! It's so optimistic of me to believe that there is anyone out there reading this, but I must tell myself you exist or else I feel like I'm talking to myself. I should mention that on Ravelry my name is KnittedChick so that if you do read this you can message me to let me know. :)

You may recall that the last time we spoke I was training for a charity bike ride. It's that same ride that has prevented me from checking in since then. I did the ride and it went ok. My knees were playing me up and I've since learned that I was biking with patellar tendinitis which is like tennis elbow in your knee. I spent most of the ride spinning which in cycling is being in a low gear peddling quite fast but not really going anyplace. Long story short, not too fun. In the end I did making it to the finish line and signed up for next year, so that can't be bad.

The reason it affected my blogging is because I had to play catch-up on all my housework once the ride was over with. Now I think the house is finally back in check, thanks in part to Mr. Frogged's productive days off, and I can happily continue my fiber filled fancies.

What I have discovered recently is Podcasts. Oh, how I love them! They keep me company when I drive to and from work. I feel like I have a group of knit obsessed girlfriends in my purse who chat with me for 4 hours a day! How great is that? Plus I'm learning so much. Like the fact that I'm itching to try spinning on a wheel instead of a bike. The idea of feeling all that fluffy fiber run through your fingers sounds entirely devine.

My current favourite podcasts are The CBC Vinyl Cafe, The Knitmore Girls, Craftlife and The Knitwits but there are so many to choose from it's really hard to pick. Check them out and tell me what you think, or let me know about podcasts you like.

Until next time happy crafting!

The Blessed Rain!

Hello all,

As promised, I am checking in, but with a rather un-crafty post.  I am working steadily through a new blanket which is going really well although I continuously seem to botch up the pattern slightly but in such a way that I am compelled to frog back about 3 rows each time and then re-do them.  Wretched.

Now, today where I am it is pouring with rain.  Not just showers as they promised but pouring!  Which ordinarily might inspire me to think, "oooooh, what a lovely day to snuggle up with my little puppy and Mr. Frogged and stitch up a storm." But on this particular day the only things that I thought were not lady-like enough for me to post just here.  You see, next weekend I'm cycling (with the Mr.) 213km for charity.  Before you think I'm any kind of athlete - don't.  I'm not,  nor ever will I be an athlete, and if you ever were looking for me with "athlete" as the model of choice, you'd never find me.  Cute though I may be, I'm scarce 5'-0" tall and a bit soft all around.  That said there is still this insanity about cycling which I've gotten myself into and now I have to complete.  Turns out Mother Nature is not on my side as she has decided to spend all spring up to and including today piddling down with rain and the gym is a poor substitute for the road.

As I write this, the 3 1/2 hours of thunder and lightning appear to have dwindled to a drizzle (light showers my foot, weatherman!) and I will after all be able to bike like a mad woman to complete 80km today before dark.  So without further ado, HERE I GOOOOOoooooo!
